Versions
Decided: the spec carries a version number, like a software release: major.minor, starting at 0.1. The minor number goes up when decisions are added or changed. 1.0 is the first version shared with the Dozenal Society and Dozensonline, once the core open items are settled; after that the major number goes up for any change to a unit's size or definition. Version numbers are dozenal (0.9, 0.X, 0.E, 0.10), with a dot, not a semicolon, because 0.10 is the tenth (dec twelfth) version, not a fraction. Each version is tagged in git (v0.1).
Why: asked for (2026 CE) so the spec can be released like software: feedback can name the version it read, and the list below shows what changed between versions. Dozenal numbers follow the rule that every number in the system is dozenal.
Advantage: anyone can say which version they mean, and see what changed since.
- 0.2 (5 Oct 6859 DH, 2026 CE): the first PDF edition (memoir), with dozenal page, chapter and section numbers, published with each release on GitHub. Also: time unit names compared with Primel, Rapoport, Beers and TGM (Prior art); licence (spec CC BY 4.0, code MIT); public repo and GitHub Pages
- 0.1 (5 Oct 6859 DH, 2026 CE): the first numbered version. New since the last draft: clock and compass diagrams; the clock has four hands, hand 1 to hand 4, one per digit (Paul Rapoport's Diurnal 1); time of day is written in moments, always three digits (E91;7, was E;917); months stay numbered from 1
